As we begin 2024, we return to the Gospel of Mark. We’re at the hinge of the book, and there’s an idea Jesus repeats four times across three chapters: that the Messiah must suffer and die. Why does Jesus think that? And – counterintuitively – how in the world is it good news (ie, “Gospel”)?
