Description

We will wrap up our series on Elijah and Elisha as we consider a story about the offensiveness of grace. First, there's the healing of Naaman: a Gentile man with affluence, success, & power. In many ways, he fits the South Bay. And precisely for that reason, it is hard for him to receive grace. Before he can receive it, his pride must be injured. But we also learn more about Gehazi, Elisha's servant. Despite years of watching Elisha's work, Gehazi is bored with God's grace. He wants more. He wants a taste of Naaman's life... so God gives him all of it, including leprosy! And then there's the slave girl. Naaman has done horrible things to her and her family, and yet she chooses to tell Naaman that God might heal him through Elisha. When grace comes into our lives, it is rarely clean and comfortable. How could that be good news for us? Let's talk about being "Insulted By Grace" (2 Kings 5:1-27).
