We conclude our series on Priorities. We will consider the famous parable of the Good Samaritan. I hope that this passage will serve not only to highlight our final priority of “Renew What Is Dead” (Luke 10:25-29) – but that it might also serve as a culmination of all we’ve said in the last six weeks. Not only do I believe this passage puts all we have covered thus far into action, but there may be no more poignant question for us to ask today than “who is my neighbor?” How we answer that question is critical, whether it is literally the people next door or coworkers or my political opposition or people buried under the rubble in Turkey right now. Yet it can seem overwhelming. How might it actually lead us deeper into joyful service? Let’s talk about how our God moves toward brokenness and calls us to do the same.
