God's plan and purpose for salvation begin to unfold through a forerunner – someone coming before Jesus to prepare the way. The life and ministry of John the Baptist is promised to his father Zechariah, who doesn't believe the angel Gabriel's promise. Regardless of Zechariah's faith, God is going to accomplish His promise for His people.
