Our bible reading today is Genesis Chapters 22 23 & 24.
***Is there anything in the lives of the characters in today’s reading that I need in my life?
Chapter 22...Abraham believed/trusted God again in a big way. “Lord, help me to trust You in specific ways today.”
Chapter 23...The Hittites helped Abraham in a big way. “Lord, like Abraham, help me to not be afraid to ask others for help.”
Chapter 24...God answered Abraham’s servant’s prayer in a big way. “Lord, always remind me of this servant’s prayer...to the point and detailed.”
Thanks, Lord for using these fellow believers in You to help me/us grow in our spiritual lives.
***Is there a clear picture of God’s activity in the lives of His people in the pages of our bible reading today?
Yes...and that activity?...
GOD PROVIDES...FOR HIS OWN! That is how God is active in the lives of His children. And so where do we see it today?
1. God provided a lamb for Abraham and Isaac.
2. God provided a burial place for Sarah.
3. God provided a wife for Isaac.
We are in for a treat in the bible reading for today.
But before we continue in the text, let me tell you how I envision a personal interview with Isaac in heaven one day.😊
“Thanks Isaac...for spending time with me. I have a few questions. “On this side of your experience with your Dad on Mt Moriah (when you were 17,) what do you remember about your Dad? “ He was very quiet for three days on our journey to Moriah. As I remember, he was pretty much to himself the night before we left....preparing for the trip, supplies and pack donkeys. “
“I have to ask, when did you know that you were the sacrifice for the altar? I had asked my father about that shortly before we reached the place where we would build the altar. He just said, “God would provide.” But to answer the question, “Dad had me sit upon the small stone altar and then he told me what God had commanded...” Take the son that you love with all your being to a mountain I will show you and there offer him as a burnt offering of worship to me.” We talked about it with tears. Dad reminded me that “I was the promise” of God to him and mother for a legacy to innumerable descendants from me for the future. And he further reminded both of us that God never ever breaks a promise. So I lifted my hands and arms and legs to my Dad so he could tie me with ropes before he laid me on the altar. He believed, and so did I, that if I was the lamb sacrifice, God would raise me back to life for our trip back home. The next thing I remember was a voice saying Abraham, Abraham, and my dad began to untie me...God had provided another....not only the ram for me there but later, the “lamb of God”, JESUS, the one and only sacrifice that was sufficient for all of us hear.”
Enjoy the rest of the story.
