Our bible reading today is another one of my favorites. The 4 chapters of Jonah.
Shortly after I was saved at age 19, I fell in love with the Bible. “When my teammates in college would ask me what I found “so interesting” in my Bible reading, I would say, “Why, these are devine words just for me, from the One who saved me from my sins. Why wouldnt I want to hear what he has to say?
Invariably, someone would say, “You dont really believe that a guy was swallowed up by a whale and three days later was regurgitated upon the land alive, do you?” And I would say, “Since my Jesus believed it, so do I.”
“But Jesus answered the Pharisees, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.”
