May 28th

Our Bible reading today is in Psalms 111-118.

“Who is like the Lord our God? “ Who is like Him who dwells high above the heavens and rules over all the nations? Who is like Him whose glory and splendor and power and wisdom and love endures forever? Who is like the Lord our God?

He is not only seated on high, looking down upon the heavens and the earth, but by His Spirit, He dwells in our hearts who believe the Son, Jesus.

Who is like the Lord our God? What ails you O “Red sea” that you flee?

Was it Moses? Was it his staff that caused you to stop and rise up and make a pathway for Jacob’s sons out of Egypt? No...it was not...it was God...God was there...what else could I do?

O “Jordan River, what caused you to turn back? Was it Moses’ successor, strong Joshua? No...it was not...it was God...He was there...what else could I do?

O mountains and hills of Sinai, what caused you to tremble one moment and rejoice like skipping lambs the next? Was it a wildfire...was it a devastating desert windstorm? No...it was not...it was God...His presence in the wind and fire and smoke...God came down...what else could I do?

Who is like the Lord our God? He saved His chosen ones from the bondage of Egypt all the way to and into the land of promise...He kept His promise.

God is still saving His “believing ones” today. Saving “us” from the bondage of sin and death...all the way to glory...all the way to glory land...He still keeps His promise!

Who is like the Lord our God...?... Nothing! No One! Halleluiah...” praise His name”. That was David’s often-repeated invitation to God’s people...praise Him...by yourself...and especially in the company of the congregation. He inhabits the praises of His people.

“Great are the works of the Lord, (worthy to be praised) and studied by all who delight in them.”
