Isaiah 9:1-7

The Christmas season reminds us that light has come into the darkness through Jesus Christ. Isaiah prophesied about this hope during Israel's darkest hour, when they faced the brutal Assyrian army. Just as God used Gideon and 300 men to defeat overwhelming odds in unexpected ways, He chose to send salvation through a baby born in Bethlehem. We live in the tension of already but not yet - Jesus has already defeated darkness through His life, death, and resurrection, but we await His return as conquering King. No matter what darkness we face today, whether addiction, loss, shame, or despair, the light of Christ has overcome it and will ultimately banish it forever.
