Like all disciples, from the apostles to Christians today, we’re called to leave everything to follow Jesus. Will Jesus ask us to sell everything, ignore our duties, and forsake our family? Maybe. He does call us to put all those things in perspective and recognize that His demands on our lives far surpass the demands of everyone else.
“Hand to the Plow” means that we will work hard for the Kingdom, moving out of our comfort zone, getting “dirty in the field,” and engaging in the mission of the church—prioritizing Jesus and His call on us as disciples. Hand to the plow, means valuing real engagement over mere attendance as we work and worship.
