After performing some incredible miracles and displaying his power, Jesus returned to his hometown to preach and teach. While the people were initially amazed, once they started to realize they "knew" all about Jesus and that he was Joseph's son, they took offense at him and his message. Instead of a response of amazement or fear that others had in response to God's action, we see Jesus' amazement at the people's lack of faith.
They missed the reality of who Jesus truly was because they thought they knew all about him. They missed the forest for the trees. Looking to us, as we spend more time in church and grow familiar with Jesus, we can be at risk of losing sight of just how incredible the reality is of what God has done through him. Have we forgotten to be amazed?
