The Lord gives a new life to all who believe in him – not a life of flesh and blood that goes to dust, but an everlasting spiritual life. Just as the human body needs food to sustain it, this new spiritual life needs food for its sustenance. This food is found in Jesus Christ, the true “bread of life.” This spiritual food is found by the power of the Holy Spirit through the fellowship of the Church, Scripture, and prayer. Such enrichment transforms believers’ souls, maturing them spiritually, strengthening their faith, and preparing them to be his witnesses. For 2024, perhaps we might add a “spiritual resolution” to the resolutions that we make on December 31st. It will surely be enormously beneficial to the Christian walk in life, bringing tremendous joy and peace in this life and the life to come.
