Foolishness & Wisdom
Job 22-28
Understanding Two Important Biblical Categories:
Foolishness = the selfish application of knowledge
Wisdom = the godly application of knowledge
What is foolish to do when people are hurting/suffering?
To point out their flaws, sins, and lack of goodness (22:5-9)
To correct all of their inconsistent theology (22:12-15)
To promise that everything will get better quickly (22:21-23)
To remind them of their frailty (25:4-6)
What is the wisdom that Job needs in his despair?
He needs to hear from God, not people. (23:2-5)
He needs peace in God’s presence, not terror. (23:13-16)
He needs help enduring injustice. (24:12-14)
He needs reminders of God’s sovereignty. (26:6-9)
Key Takeaways:
