God made the earth as the center stage of His creation—of man. He placed man on that center stage so that man could be blessed and give glory to his Creator. I am sure that God received pleasure from His creation, and there is no doubt that apart from man, there is a very real sense in which creation gives glory God. But the human race was created to worship their Creator. Creation is one of the things that should prompt us to worship and praise our Creator.
