Our text is both sobering and encouraging. Sobering because we see the judgment that fell on the wicked, violent, and corrupt world of men in Noah’s day. Yet encouraging because we see absolute faithfulness of God in fulfilling His Word.
Now consider, if you are going to get into the ark of refuge, safety, and salvation from God’s judgment, several things need to happen: 1) You need a merciful warning of judgment to come from God; 2) You need to believe the merciful warning is true; 3) You need to have not only an intellectual faith, you need to have a trusting, volitional faith that acts upon what you believe is true.
