Jesus calls us to be active disciples, not passive spectators. Jesus has redeemed us so we can participate in his redemptive work. The church/congregation belongs to him – and is not to be bound by our limited preferences. Returning to the theme of SoulShaping: God makes, we shape. We are to engage intentionally in several “building projects,” which Paul frames in terms of God’s Temple. We are building a life that counts, a fellowship that cares, and a mission that continues Christ’s transforming work in the world (the 3 commitments from last week’s message). Application: We invest the gold, gold, silver, precious stones of our time, treasure and abilities for God’s great purpose.
