Revelation 15:1-16:21 present the Seven Last Plagues/ bowls of judgment. We most often associate the phrase “It is finished” coming from Jesus’ lips (John 19:30), but it occurs twice in the Revelation (16:17 and 21:6 NLT) proclaiming the final judgment on evil. It’s important to note that the scenes in the Revelation are not chronological. Additional judgment scenes in the following chapters recapitulate this theme. This section begins with worship (15:3-4) reminding God’s people to endure suffering with the assurance that evil will be destroyed. Jesus’ victory on the cross will extend to the entire cosmos. The seven bowls once again echo the plagues of Egypt.
