JOY. Joy is easily smothered by life’s pace, problems and even (dare we say it) people! The story of Christmas is a story of God coming to people overwhelmed with life. The Jews were literally overwhelmed and oppressed by Rome. They were also under the oppression of the religious system of the day. The Lord gives a word of that inspires joy and courage: “Fear not.” Joy comes from knowing we are favored, loved and cherished by God. It comes from knowing God is actively calling people to new life. Joy comes from trusting that nothing is impossible for God
