What are we to do when we face impossible situations? Mary receives a visit from the angel Gabriel, the same angel that appeared to Zechariah. The appearance to a Priest in the temple made sense, but appearing to a young girl, with no title, from an obscure town? That would have been jarring to a person in the first century. Gabriel informs Mary that she is going to give birth to the promised Messiah. She says to the Angel, “How can this be?” And the Angel says, “Nothing is impossible with God.” What we will learn is that history is going somewhere. God works through ordinary people, and through Jesus, is reconciling people to Himself!
