Many of us have experienced the frustration of “self-powered Christianity.” Living Jesus’ way is impossible without relying on Jesus’ power. Pentecost fulfilled Jesus’ promise that we would receive the power of the Holy Spirit to instruct, convict, convert, and empower our transformation and service. One of the greatest privileges of the new covenant is that Jesus poured out the Holy Spirit to live within his followers. We mature in Christ as we learn to draw on the power of God’s Spirit in all times, places, and relationships.
