This is the most important question ever asked. Jesus wants us to go deep within ourselves to ask who Jesus is – why are still talking about him today.
Jesus begins with an easier question – “Who do people say that I am?” Once answered (with many divergent opinions), Jesus zeroes in on the question that eternity demands: “Who do YOU say that I am?”
When Peter answers, Jesus tells him two shockingly surprising things:
a) it is revealed by the Spirit, and
b) upon that confession, Jesus will build a movement that will change the world.
In short, Christian faith is miraculous (it requires God’s help), it is personal (it demands your decision), and it is eternal (it changes everything).
