Can you remember the last time you experienced complete and utter awe? Temple Shepherds were out in the field, tending to sheep that were set aside for temple sacrifice. One angel appears in front of them; encompassed in the shekinah light of God’s glory. He proclaims good tidings of great joy. And what is his message? That the Messiah has come! Then a chorus of Angels appear and sing a hymn of praise to the Lord. Application: Spending time with Jesus changes us. When was the last time you were in awe of the reality that Jesus died for your sins; that he came in the form of a vulnerable infant, in a place and in a way that no one would have expected? The invitation for us is not to miss the wonder of God coming near!
