🤔Sermon Reflection: It's fascinating how group dynamics often reveal those who lead, those who follow, and those who seem to drift. In Luke's account, Martha's diligent service contrasts sharply with Mary's attentive listening. Martha's frustration, though understandable, exposes deeper feelings of jealousy and anger. Yet, Jesus responds with compassion, recognizing her internal struggle. He highlights that our worth isn't defined by our busyness, but by our connection to Him. Many of us grapple with feeling pulled in multiple directions, experiencing anxiety and fragmentation. The challenge lies in choosing the "better part"—a state of being that brings peace and unity rather than worry. This "better part" involves resting in Jesus, acknowledging the gift of His presence. How can we practically prioritize this in our daily lives, amidst our many commitments? What does choosing “the better part” look for you? 🕊️🙏✨
The Gospels are full of stories of Jesus sharing meals with disciples, friends, and even tax collectors and Pharisees. In one moment he's multiplying bread to feed a whole crowd, next he's relaxing with his inner circle, and then he's telling curious elites stories about even greater banquets. These stories culminate in "the last supper" on the night before his crucifixion; a meal he invites his followers to continue eating long after his resurrection.
