What does it mean to walk in true, biblical wisdom? In a world that offers many definitions of a "good person," the Word of God provides the only standard that will endure. We were blessed to have special speaker Pastor Dave Delaney of First Baptist Church in Long Beach, CA, deliver this convicting and timely message on the nature of godly wisdom.
In our fallen state, it is easy to believe that righteousness is merely the absence of outward sin. But Scripture calls us to something far greater—a life that actively pursues holiness and bears fruit for the glory of God. This sermon challenges the believer to examine their heart and actions. Is your life's work being built with the gold, silver, and precious stones of God's wisdom, or the wood, hay, and stubble of the world that will be burned away at the Judgment Seat of Christ?
Pastor Delaney exhorts us from the Scriptures with these biblical principles for a life that honors the Lord:
First, we are called to a readiness in our deeds, understanding that a refusal to do good when it is in our power to do so is a sin of omission before a holy God.
Second, we must cultivate a spirit of meekness, especially toward those who are difficult or contentious. True biblical strength is not found in retaliation, but in the gentleness and longsuffering that is the fruit of the Spirit, entrusting all vengeance to the Lord.
Third, we are commanded to exercise godly discernment, choosing what is righteous in a world that celebrates wickedness. We must be vigilant not to admire or imitate the ways of the ungodly, but to set our minds on things above, not on things on the earth.
Ultimately, every action and every thought must be brought captive to this one question: Does this glorify God? For in the end, the applause of men will fade, and the only thing that will remain is our account before the Lord and the joy of hearing Him say, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."
