The Hon. Brian Peckford is the former Premier of Newfoundland.
He is also the last living contributor who helped craft the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Over the last two years he has become outspoken, expressing concern that he believed governments across Canada were breaching Canadian charter rights through the vaccine mandates.
He joined us last fall and it was easily one of our most commented on shows of 2021.
Mr. Peckford’s renewed concern for the Charter rights of Canadians has now escalated to the point that he is taking the Government of Canada to court (Federal Court). He is suing them over the issue of mobility rights for Canadians — one of the fundamental freedoms protected by the Charter.
We caught up with Mr. Peckford to talk about the Charter, his court case, his recent observations surrounding the Freedom Convoy and what he believes Canadians need to be doing in response to the events of these past years.
