Description

"My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands, tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God. For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity." (Proverbs 2:1-7)

Do we consider ourselves fools in God's eyes? While some of us might dismiss such a notion, when we ignore what God tells us and choose the way we want to live, then we are fools in God's eyes. While immaterial things such as intelligence, education, and talents are helpful, they aren't always sure to lead us on the right path to our ultimate destiny. Therefore, they are not to replace godly wisdom.

The sovereign and all-knowing God tells us that our commitment will make us wise. That is, we must have a mindset that sees all of life from the way God does and make it our habit to seek and gain his wisdom. We can do so when we treasure in our hearts that Scripture is the precious wisdom of God. We discover God's plan, identity in Christ Jesus, and purpose in life when we meditate on God's Word every day.

His Word is valuable for our spiritual understanding than precious material things. Moreover, we can live wisely, not by mere knowledge of Bible content, but by our willingness to obey what God tells us in his Word. While Satan works hard to discourage us, our Lord gives us spiritual understanding when asking him in prayer. God wants us to seek his knowledge and wisdom in obedience to his Word for a joyful life.
