Summer’s here, and for many women, so is the shame of having to show our bodies in shorts, t-shirts, or -GASP- even a bathing suit. Many of us have lived with this our whole lives, and despite knowing better, we just can’t break free. This week, we bring that shame out into the open and work through ways to squash the negative self-talk and love ourselves for the queens we are!
This Week’s Listener Question:
Hey Christine and Laura! Summer is a really hard time for me because I’m invited to all kinds of events where I should wear a bathing suit. I hate how I look, even in shorts. How do I get over this and still have fun this summer?
Small Group Questions:
1. Looking back on your childhood, what’s your first memory of being aware of body image? Do you have a story to share?
2. How has your relationship with your body image changed over time? How would you describe it today?
3. What parts of Laura’s and Christine’s stories do you relate most to?
4. In what ways can you invite gratitude and love into your self-talk? What times of the day would this practice be most helpful?
