Description

How we view our bodies drives what and how we eat. And, as we talked about last week, many of us struggle to have a positive image of ourselves. So it makes sense that many women wrestle with some degree of an eating disorder. It’s sometimes subtle, but it’s there… and it’s not good. This week, we’ll walk through how to recognize an eating disorder, why it’s there, and the first steps in overcoming it.

This Week's Listener Question:

I’m worried about my daughter. She refuses to eat meals with our family and she’s constantly taking pictures of herself for social media. How do I know if she’s struggling with an eating disorder or if I’m just being a worried mother?

Small Group Questions:

1.  Christine listed different types of disordered eating. Which ones do you identify with or see often? Where do they typically show up?

2.  Laura shared her family tree where eating disorders can be seen throughout the generations. When you reflect upon your family history, how would you describe family member’s relationship with food? How is that still showing up today?

3.  How would you describe your relationship with food? Who could you share your insights with to start an open and honest conversation with?

4.   Instead of trying to shrink ourselves, how can we take up more space in the world? Why is this important to do in our families, workplace, or circle of influences?
