On some level, we’re all addicted to Dopamine, the chemical our bodies secrete when we’re experiencing pleasure. And that’s a good thing… in general. But in our world of easy access to all we want, many people are able to skip the pain of getting what’s pleasurable, and are left depressed and wanting more.
This week, we talk about some strategies for maintaining that balance.
This Week’s Listener Question:
My daughter in college smokes a lot of pot. I know it’s not addictive but I’ve noticed she’s not motivated to do the things she normally like to do. Should I be concerned and what should I do?
Small Group Questions:
1. Where do you see overindulgence in your world?
2. What substances or behaviors do you use to calm your discomfort, pain, or fatigue?
3. How might this substance or behavior impede your sense of purpose or your greater why?
4. Have you ever done a dopamine detox? What did you experience, learn, or feel?
Stay tuned and listen in on Soul Enchilada #44 where this important conversation continues.
