It’s widely believed that we admire and are attracted to people with characteristics we do not possess ourselves. As a result, our closest relationships are often with our opposites, which can make it challenging to remain close.
We’ve been married to our opposites for quite a while now, so this week, we talk about why we’re different… and how to maintain deep, close connections with each other.
This Week’s Listener Question:
My husband doesn’t go very deep with his emotions. I’m super lonely in my marriage. I keep giving him books to read to deepen our connection, but he won’t do it. Help!
Small Group Questions:
To build connection with a friend or in your small group, ask each other these questions.
1. Do you feel like you’re attracted to relationships with people who are opposite or similar to you?
2. Have you ever taken the Myers Brigg’s test? If so, what did you learn about yourself? If not, check out the free test listed in our resource section.
3. Do differences in your closest relationships ever leave you feeling lonely? How can you meet the needs of your lonely parts?
4. Are you willing to share what makes you feel energized and lonely with your partner or a close friend? What would that look and sound like?
