But against that dark backdrop shines the brilliance of the gospel: But God, being rich in mercy… made us alive together with Christ. Salvation is not self-improvement but resurrection. By grace, God breathes life into the lifeless, makes us new, and sends us out as his masterpiece to walk in the good works he has prepared.
