Forgiveness is no longer a fragile hope we earn, but a firm reality we live from — secured by the finished work of Jesus. The New Covenant doesn’t threaten us into forgiving; it transforms us by showing how completely we’ve already been forgiven. So we forgive, not to be forgiven, but because grace has forever settled our debt.
