The People’s Climate March on Sunday, September 21 was beyond awesome - young and old, all the diverse groups from many different perspectives came to put pressure on the world leaders to take action - such as anti-fracking, the militarization and climate, stopping fossil fuel subsidies, putting a tax on carbon, etc. On Monday, September 22, there were thousands of protestors at Flooding Wall Street shutting down traffic in front of the New York Stock Exchange.

Michael Leon Guerrero, National Coordinator of the Our Power Campaign, speaking at the New School in NYC on Tuesday, Sept. 23 in a panel called, Toward Living Economies: Systems Alternatives, at the Peoples Climate Justice Summit, sponsored by the Climate Justice Alliance (CJA). Michael talks about frontline communities organized to forge a scalable, and social-economically just transition away from unsustainable energy towards local living economies to address the root causes of climate change.

It is my hope that this largest environmental march in history in NYC will be a spark for a much bigger global climate movement that will put millions on the streets to demand action on the climate. What’s at stake is a livable planet for future generations.
