"We need to go beyond diversity and talk about how to actually build a more inclusive world." - Rohit Bhargava
What does it mean to be creatively confident?
Today's guest Rohit Bhargava is the founder of the Non-Obvious Company and Ideapress Publishing. He is a #1 Wall Street Journal bestselling author and is the host of the Non-Obvious Insights show. Before becoming an entrepreneur, Rohit spent 15 years in leadership roles at two renowned ad agencies: Leo Burnett and Ogilvy. Now he is on a mission to help the world be more open-minded by teaching others how to be non-obvious thinkers.
Rohit and I came together in January when I moderated a virtual panel as part of one of Rohit's big ideas: the first annual Non-Obvious Diversity Summit. The week-long event featured more than 50 sessions on topics ranging from workplace ageism to racial justice to diverse casting to women in tech, food and culture, and more. Now, less than ten months later, the summit has been turned into a book.
"It's not like there is something that is non-obvious for everybody." - Rohit Bhargava
In today's show, we talk about how to cultivate creativity, what it takes to make a more inclusive world, and why Rohit reads magazines for farmers. He shares how he cultivated his creativity out of his discomfort of being someone who wasn't supposed to be creative and how we shouldn't let titles or labels limit us. We also talk about the power of brainstorming, and why being creatively confident can be the key to your success.
