Wake Up Sydney brings you the latest weather, traffic and train updates for Friday 16 October 2026, helping you plan your morning across Sydney.
It’s a cool and showery start around the city, with the CBD at 16.7°C heading for a top of 21°C, Parramatta starting at 14.2°C and reaching 20°C, and Bondi sitting at 17.7°C on the way to 19°C. A shower or two is expected across Sydney, so grab a jumper, umbrella and coffee before you head out. Saturday is looking similar, with mild temperatures and showers possible across the city, west and coast.
On the roads, drivers are urged to allow extra travel time. A car breakdown is affecting the M4 eastbound just past Prospect Highway at Prospect, with the shoulder impacted and speeds reduced to 40 km/h. In Croydon, a two-car crash on Liverpool Road at Greenhills Street is affecting both directions, with emergency services on scene. At Bankstown, a bus breakdown on the Hume Highway eastbound at Meredith Street has closed one lane, while at Horsley Park, a truck breakdown on The Horsley Drive eastbound approaching Ferrers Road is causing moderate traffic delays.
For public transport, Sydney’s heavy rail network is running well this morning. However, Sydney Metro is operating with temporary timetable changes due to Southwest testing, meaning some services may run up to two minutes early or late. Commuters should arrive a little earlier and allow extra time for connections.
