Description

As 2020 comes to a close, Scott and Emily take a grateful look back.  They explore why so many people they have talked with are saying that 2020 is their best year ever.  In the midst of a global pandemic and shutdown what are some of the principles and trademarks of individuals that are narrating this year as "best ever." One of the ideas that has shaped Scott and Emily comes from Viktor Frankl and his groundbreaking work in "Man's Search for Meaning." The idea of happiness and contentment being located internally has been key in setting 2020 up as people's best year ever.  They also highlight what has come to be known as the Stockdale paradox. Stockdale explained this idea in the following way: "You must never confuse faith that you will prevail in the end — which you can never afford to lose — with the discipline to confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be."  Scott and Emily challenge you with a call to action:  Evaluate your life, find the positives, and build off of them!
