There are so many emotions I want to express but I want to center around one right now: gratitude. Grateful for what Kobe taught me both growing up and into adulthood.
Kobe was my childhood athlete. Drafted in 1996 and winning his first championship in 2000, those were my prime adolescent years. The 2010 Laker Celtic Championship series will be one I will never forget. His Achilles injury was reminiscent of Tiger's ACL injury. Pure grit to power through. What he gave us after basketball was nothing short of remarkable as well.
Thank you Kobe for everything you gave to not only basketball but to everything you pursued in life. Your dash reads, "Champion, Cleaner, Father, and Icon." Rest easy Mamba and Gigi.
