Host: Larry Kaskel, MD
Guest: Jerome D. Cohen, MD
Dr. Jerome Cohen, emeritus professor of internal medicine at Saint Louis University School of Medicine and director of Preventive Cardiology Programs at the Saint Louis University Health Sciences Center, joins host Dr. Larry Kaskel to discuss the results of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys (NHANES), which show that, while LDL cholesterol levels are falling, triglyceride levels in the United States are skyrocketing. These levels are five times higher than the NHANES data of the 1970s. How can we educate our patients about the serious risks associated with triglycerides, which are often ignored when addressing cardiovascular disease?
