Matthew 4:1–11 tells the story of Jesus being led into the wilderness, where He fasted for forty days and forty nights. In that place of hunger, isolation, and vulnerability, Jesus was tempted with a simple, seemingly harmless suggestion: “Turn these stones into bread.” But Jesus responded with a truth that echoes through every Lent season: “Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
