Description

This episode is about who you are, your personality traits, and providing resources to help you articulate your personality if this is a challenging exercise for you. It's all about the internal assessment.

The meat of this episode presents different questions to get you to think about your personality in every-day work situations. Think about how you operate and what you would prefer.

Remember, this podcast isn't just about me speaking to you, it's about taking action.

I thought I knew myself pretty well after working for a while and going to grad school, but I soon realized that I had a host of preferences I didn't know I had. I also started paying attention to others preferences so I could learn and be mindful of what worked best for them. This type of attention is what creates a positive work environment and creates trust among colleagues.

I also go into Emotional Intelligence to define what it is, the 5 components, and why it's important to your career success.

There are three personality assessments I recommend in the episode:
1. MBTI - Meyers-Briggs Type Assessment
2. Clifton Strengths
3. Enneagram

I want to caveat first that assessments are a starting point. They will not magically answer all of life's questions for you, though some feel that way. You won't always agree with the results, which is actually good because it means you are learning to articulate who you are!

These aren't the only assessments out there, but they are the ones I use frequently and prefer over others. Here are links to helpful websites for these assessments:

1. MBTI - Meyers-Briggs Type Assessment
2. Clifton Strengths

3. Enneagram
