Description

This afternoon, the US House is prepared to give the final approval to a bill that protects same-sex and interracial marriages. This comes after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade earlier this year, leading to some concerns about the potential of same-sex marriage protections being overturned as well. The Respect for Marriage Act received bipartisan support in the Senate with 12 Republicans voting in favor of the bill but the House vote may not have the same GOP support. Today’s vote is the last step before this bill can head to President Biden’s desk and become law. We break down the impact of this legislation and what we can expect today.
