Description

This morning we were blessed with the reminder, “To move in the direction that rewards your heart!” That’s what Mr. Derrick Chubs did after 15 years of working for corporate America. He became the new CEO of Second Harvest food bank targeting the community’s food insecurity. The main issue of hunger stems from poverty, a growing problem with an opaque future. As an advocate of the community we ask listeners to spread the word and/or volunteer to strengthen each other.

Diving into our history with Mr. Manuel Jones, President of ASALH, we discussed the crucial need to hold on and expand on our history. In 1915 The Association for the Study of African American Life, ASALH, was founded by Dr. Carter G. Woodson with the mission to preserve and promote the once shuttered history of black people and our culture. With knowledge of our lineage it is our responsibility to understand who we were and who we are today, personally and in our place in society.
