As Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao comes up on her first year in office, a group of people today officially announced plans to launch a recall effort against her.
Organizers and volunteers gathered this week in Oakland's Montclair neighborhood, which the Mayor used to represent as a council member, pushing to remove her from office.
But before they can fully submit the notice of intention, they need 250 signatures which organizers say they have more than enough.
