- In Philadelphia, a man was shot and killed while carrying a baby and walking with children.
- Kara Frederick—Research Fellow in Technology Policy at The Heritage Foundation & former Global Security Counterterrorism Analysis at Facebook—joins the show to discuss her most recent editorial, “Sleepwalking Into a China-Style Social Credit System.” In December, Frederick, testified before Congress about social media’s censorship of conservative political opinions. According to Frederick, Republican members of Congress are censored on social media at a rate of 53 to 1 when compared to Democrats.
- On Wednesday, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell announced that interest rates would rise 0.25% as part of an effort to slow inflation and stabilize prices. Several more increases are expected before the end of 2022.
- In a Washington Post opinion editorial, former Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers stated that the Federal Reserve has been wrong about inflation for over a year—and now, the U.S. is heading towards stagflation and a “major recession.” In 2021, Summers had vociferously argued that inflation was not transitory, despite contrary claims from Fed Chairman Powell and Secretary of Treasury Janet Yellen.
