- A 38-year-old mother has been arrested for shooting her two sons in their Bucks County home on Monday. Tragically, neither child is expected to survive.
- On Tuesday, people gathered throughout Philadelphia to protest the Supreme Court’s presumed decision to repeal Roe v. Wade with Justice Sam Alito’s majority opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.
- According to a Philadelphia Inquirer article, with the U.S. Supreme Court expected to repeal Roe v. Wade, U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania Bob Casey may be in a “political hot seat” as one of the nation’s most prominent pro-life Democrats.
- Hempfield High School, in Lancaster County, has placed one staffer on administrative leave after the individual organized a drag show in which performers were inappropriately dressed.
- Comedian Dave Chappelle was attacked by an audience member while performing in Los Angeles. Chappelle was uninjured and the attacker has been arrested.
- On Tuesday, Philadelphia City Council spoke with SEPTA officials about their annual budget. Councilman David Oh stated he may introduce a budget amendment withholding $10 million from SEPTA until transit police salaries have been increased. SEPTA transit police are currently understaffed by roughly fifty officers.
- A Philadelphia Inquirer Opinion Editorial written by Jenice Armstrong implored Philadelphia City Council, as well as Mayor Jim Kenney, to return to in-person meetings—which she argues allows reporters to ask more substantive questions. Mayor Kenney has defended the current, virtual format and has stated he is unlikely to make alterations.
- Rachel Spivack, a former Philadelphia Assistant District Attorney, is suing D.A. Larry Krasner for disregarding her religious exemption for the COVID-19 vaccine. After the denial of her exemption, Spivack was fired. Spivack’s lawsuit alleges the denial was due to Krasner’s “hostility” towards religion.
