- A 12-year-old boy was shot and killed by police on Wednesday evening—police say the boy was carrying a handgun and is believed to have fired the weapon at an unmarked police vehicle. According to reports from The Philadelphia Inquirer, the boy threw the gun several moments before being shot. Philadelphia Police Chief Danielle Outlaw said the officer that fired the shot, will lose his job.
- The Philadelphia Health Department revealed that they’ve been relying upon vaccination rate data that is inaccurate. The department explained they were made aware about the inaccuracies on February 16th—so why are they only announcing these corrections now?
- Salvatore Mercogliano—Maritime Historian with Campbell University—joins the show to discuss the complications cargo ships are experiencing as a consequence of Russia’s war in Ukraine. According to estimations, as many as 3,500 sailors and 200 ships are stranded at Ukraine ports—with more ships stranded globally than at any point in time since World War II. Dr. Mercogliano believes that the impact on the global supply of grain, specifically, could lead to food shortages in the Middle East and Africa.
