Hour 1 of The Dawn Stensland Show:
- Local News Headlines/News Rundown
- Amber Athey—Editor for The Spectator & Senior Fellow at the Steamboat Institute—joins the show to talk about how she was recently fired from Cumulus Media’s WMAL in Washington D.C. Athey’s termination was blamed on a satirical tweet in which she was critical of Vice President Kamala Harris’ wardrobe—comparing her to a UPS driver. Athey wrote an editorial documenting her termination, “I Was Fired for a Joke About Kamala Harris’s Outfit.”
- Philadelphia has announced that it will waive its rule requiring police to be city residents for at least one-year prior to their appointment to the police force. Mayor Jim Kenney hopes that by temporarily lifting the residency requirement, the city will be able to increase its number of police officers.
- SEPTA police officer Ervis Unoz, who was shot in the abdomen while attempting to protect other officers in Frankford, is in stable condition.
