- On Tuesday, a medical helicopter headed for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia crash-landed outside of Drexel Hill United Methodist Church. All four people, including an infant, survived the crash. Preliminary investigations suggest the crash was likely accidental—though, the complete investigation is expected to take up to a year.
- How many times can you re-use your KN95 and N95 masks? The CDC is now advising to use them no more than five times before replacing them.
- COVID-19 antiviral pills—Paxlovid and Molnupiravir—are now available throughout the Philadelphia area. The pills, produced by Pfizer and Merck, help reduce symptoms post-infection. Both medications are available with a prescription only.
- According to a CBS3 report, supply chain shortages are resurfacing in the Philadelphia area. Unfortunately, supply issues aren’t likely to disappear anytime soon—The Wall Street Journal is reporting that China is in the midst of frantically shutting down factories, shipping ports, and even cities in an attempt to contain Omicron outbreaks.
- On Wednesday, the U.S. Labor Department announced that inflationary rates hit a 7% in December. While speaking before the Senate, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell stated that if inflation continues to persist, a rise in interest rates would be necessary.
