Some songs take on a completely different meaning when you find out what the lyrics actually mean and who the song was intended to be about!
Take Bread's 1972 hit "Everything I Own," when i first heard the song i thought it was about a scorned love or broken relationship...but it turns out Bread's David Gates actually wrote the song about the death of his father!
When you listen back to the song after knowing this, it has a completely different feel to it and is even more beautiful and heartberaking as it already was when you thought it was about a breakup.
We played it on air and the listener reaction was the same as us in the studio! Not many people knew the true intention of the song, so when you listen back to it make sure you have a tissue close by!
