As we are bouncing back from a fulfilling Thanksgiving... and moving deeper into the month of December, no doubt we will be enjoying the perks of the season. From heavier meals to more sweets and alcohol indulgence... our health will be pushed to the limits for some.
On Ask the Expert, Dr. Fahmi Farah, CEO of Bently Heart joined Kristin Diaz and David Rancken on the KRLD Afternoon News. She reminds us of Holiday Heart- a rise in heart health-related cases that typically bring more patients into the hospital this time of year.
She says stress, high-caloric foods, and too much sugar and sodium can all contribute to bad heart health. She advises to also watch out for too much consumption of alcohol during the season, as that too can play a factor in poor heart health. Healthy foods and exercise, she says, are just as important, if not more important to focus on as we round out the year.
