LAS VEGAS CASINOS REOPENING TODAY
- Casinos in Las Vegas are reopening today (June 4th) after a 78-day shutdown because of the coronavirus pandemic.
- Thousands of tourism industry jobs had been lost in the tourism-dependent city, and even with the reopening, experts believe it will take from 12 to 18 months to recover.
- Most of the casinos are opening today, including Caesars Palace, Bellagio, MGM Grand and New York-New York, while some others will open within the next few days, including Harrah's and Excalibur.
- Nevada Resorts Association President Virginia Valentine told the Las Vegas Review Journal that resorts are optimistic about bookings for the first week, saying, "Some of the news indicates more rooms may be booked than originally thought. It is looking like we’ll have a very positive response to the reopening."
